The lack of updates recently is, at least in part due to a business trip to the Gulf. As with many things, closer association can sharpen the senses and watching the Iraq (early) handover on Arabic TV was an unexpected experience. It certainly seems that an awareness of broader regional issues - from Saudi Arabia and Syria through to Libya and Iran - puts the Iraqi situation in a subtly different light. It certainly brings a perspective on Iraq's developments distinctly at odds with what we often hear in the west.
Meanwhile, if news that the seizure of British Forces was one more of kidnap than arrest, then the thoughts behind my recent MEMRI sourced posting on Iran may now begin to gain a wider audience.
